The following day I took part in a national confrence call with VFP cadre from around the country. The topics were the Best Practices, report backs from myself and other chapters and the National Convention. I pitched the March and VetFest, both items were met with great enthusiasm by the others.
On the 19th we participated in the MLK Day Parade, and the following day, on the 20th, we did our first Vet Fest, which was a washout, but stil good practice, and fun for all who attended.
Our next step is to meet with the local Green Party and strengthen the bonds of solidarity between them and VFP. We will be leaving for Arizona next week to link up with Chapter 75 from Phoenix.
I have been very hard at work on my ReGreening project, and all the planning for VetFest (with only 8 days to promote it) took quite a bit out of me.
Plus this whole San Diego trip has cost us $ 340 dollars, there was some outlay for the VetFest (flyers and online promo fees) and we have not been setting up the "show" so much to bring in donations.....
So there have been times when we had to dip into the bike fund, just to get by..
So please continue to hit that donation button!
I have made contact with Camil's wife, and the man himself has heard about us, there was an article in the local Gainsville paper about us, so the info has been "leaked" according to plan, and all is well.
We have been meeting major players in the movement, and members of the board of directors are suitably impressed by our efforts.
WE ARE KICKING ASS
