Well imagine my joy at having heard from Paul, formerly of the 151.
So on Saturday I was at a corner in Alpine, with my set up. Two different guys came by and mentioned to me that Paul had a real nice set-up just around the corner, and they'd tell him I was here. (I had mentioned to them that meeting Paul was my reason for being in Alpine, but was unable to contact him).
Long story short, (I have a lot of work to do today on my book) I spent 3 days and 2 wonderful nights with Paul and his long time friend Eve, and their sweet dog Viva.
Paul and Eve are very kind, considerate and wise old school non-violence activists, and had been very active in the local scene. They have an AWESOME compound full of gardens and ponds, and BOOKS BOOKS BOOKS! AAMOF Paul gifted me a book about the "Peace Pilgrim" an old woman who logged 25,000 miles for peace before she stopped counting, so that was very appropriate and sweet.
They informed me that they had dissolved the chapter a couple years back due to personal reasons, and some controversy within VFP National that we didn't really care to discuss, nor will I disclose publicly their reasons for feeling that VFP was no longer a viable outlet for their activism.
Well I did some work around the place ( I actually shovelled horse shit, and LOVED it! I was really a "shit shoveller" for a day!) and studied some Gene Sharp books thay had laying around.
Paul and Eve saved my ass and put me on a train, saving me potential weeks of time, for which to them I am eternally grateful.
That brings us to the current situation, it is raining, I am ravenous, and I must go out into the city to seek relief. I have sent emails to my donors and the local activist groups, now it is time to spend some energy on the book.
