OVSF finds itself pushing forward with the March Across America with enhanced capabilities, acquiring more human resources and contributing vital support in the San Francisco Bay Area. When the Berkeley Post Office Defense was determined to be an early victor in that struggle, we shifted focus onto the encroaching military intervention with Syria.
Elements of OVSF, in tandem with Veterans for Peace Ch.69 and CODE PINK
mounted rallies, marches and demos across the City. Protest demonstrations at ATT Park (home of the Giants) both Feinsteins and Pelosis' offices and homes were picketed. A pop-up Occupation was unleashed at Feinsteins' residence, with an OLB (overpass Light Brigade) action on the GoldenGate bridge courtesy Fresno OLB. More detailed information can be found on the web, this blog is concerned primarily with the current situation of our team, as opposed to detailed accounts of each action.
The next front in the ongoing crisis was an attempted occupation in front of SF City Hall, part of an ongoing Antagonization/Pressure Campaign against Hizzoner the Mayor Ed "Asshat" Lee. This action was based around an irritation concept, and it worked moderately well in favor of the Occupiers. From time to time, we were able to actually sleep in front of the City Hall...about a week actually, and get some attention from the media.
By day, public oratory and chalking of slogans which was kind of funny, because the workers were literally washing the chalk away as quickly as it was being put down. This was MZ's action, and I think it was partially successful.
In SF we have had a decades old struggle with the homeless situation, and this issue is FINALLY being adressed through clever Direct Actions such as this.
The team has become involved in the Monsanto campaigns, and through this channel we are able to effect relationships with other committed radicals. There have been trainings (non violence, first aid, direct actions, civil disobedience, etc)
OVSF was instrumental in planning and crowd control for the March Against Monsanto event at the Golden Gate Bridge, which was decently attended, no arrests or problems. The team was invited to camp with members of the Ohlone Nation at their annual pow-wow. It was quite an honor for all of us, and this writer was overcome by emotion during the morning blessing ceromony, where the tribal elders sent us off with love and respect to fight for the Earth and our human family.
This Monsanto event concluded wonderfully, with over 500 participants on the bridge, and very valuable contacts generated and lessons learned.
OVSF was again thrown into the breech as a supporting arm in a well conducted action against ICE. A bus with 3 deportees was blockaded for a few hours before the the arrests put and end to the stand off.
We are just now leaving for ACAB actions in Oakland, and this post is to be continued. We are literally being called right now.PEACE.
