My workshop was scheduled for 0830 hrs and to last until 1000. It went well. That is, I kept it on time, and caught no snoozers. It appeared the attendants enjoyed themselves as much as I did. I regret that I did not have time to set up my camera to film it, but I pulled it off and garnered some kudos. After that, I attended the opening ceremonies and was very impressed with the speeches delivered by VFP and activist luminaries such as Mike Prysner, Pat McAnn and Mike McPhearson.
Yesterday was registration and set up, so today begin the NatCon proper. It has been great meeting people and seeing freinds from the west, as well as the folks whom I have met along the way.
There APPEARS to be a small "turn out" perhaps a couple hundred or so, but energy is very high, love is abundant, and there is an over-stuffed schedule of workshops, films, plenaries, music and tabling.
Ran into some cool peeps like Medea Benjamin and David Swanson, also one of my favorite guys to meet is the AWESOME Anarcho-Hippy, John Pinley, whose fame procceds him like the extended forks of a kick-ass chopper.
Punk rock is here, and Metal, too, quite a few tattoos and radical types. We love it. The VFP in all its' wisdom, is embracing the younger generation, indeed it has been re-iterated many times that we must prepare and care for the hands to whom the torch will be given.
VFP is more relevant than ever, and I am SO proud and humbled and turned on by my involvement with so many kind decent smart people.
Veterans for Peace was a game-changer for me, and I could not be happier at the moment unless ______________ decided to run away with me and live in a treehouse.
(hey it's not impossible)
